The buildings of Zhang Zhidong and modern industry Museum adopt all steel structure and all steel skin, which is not only a tribute to the history of Hanyang Iron Works, but also a display of the level of China's modern iron and steel industry; Sustainable development technology is widely used in the design to ensure that it is an environment-friendly building

Zhang Zhidong and modern industry museum are the only special memorial hall about Zhang Zhidong and "made in Hanyang" built by Vanke and WISCO in Han Dynasty. The landscape design of Zhang Zhidong and modern industrial museum reflects the geographical characteristics of the meeting of three rivers and the thoroughfare of nine provinces in Wuhan, as well as the magnificent historical context. The shape of the building is like an ark, floating on the horizon, implying that we will always move forward and struggle regardless of the current. This is also a traditional tribute to Wuhan for daring to be the first and standing in the forefront.

On June 21, 2011, the foundation of "Zhang Zhidong and modern industry Museum" was laid at the former site of Hanyang Iron Works. This is a special memorial hall about Zhang Zhidong and "made in Hanyang" in China, designed by architect Li Boskin
